As a child I had a passion for creating. My childhood hobbies included pattern making to create 3 dimensional toys, drawing, knitting, sewing, painting, woodwork and ceramics.

After finishing the HSC I sought to epanded my creative skills by completing the first year of an Associate Diploma in Fine Art, achieving 2nd in the year. During 1989 I worked as a photographer’s assistant for a portrait and wedding photographer. I then studied for a Bachelor of Art Education (BartEd) at NSW university graduating in 1992 and went straight to work as a high school visual art teacher until 1998.

When my two children came along I developed many creative endeavours so I could work from home to fit in with family life. Greeting cards on line, creating for local art exhibitions and shows, along with hand painting cakes. My most unique and lucrative endeavour Captivating Cake Toppers involved creating one of a kind cake toppers / sculptures for special events, particularly weddings.

In 2015 I created “Ali’s Studio”. I have been fortunate to participate in many local art exhibitions since joining the Blue Mountains Artists network in 2014. Obtaining a Highly commended for the series Elegant Hunted. My photographic images fill the walls of the popular local Pizza shop La Bello, Faulconbridge. Also postcards of images of my work from the exhibition "If these walls could speak" can be purchased at Woodford Academy. Many of my art works are held in private collections.

I have been honoured to speak about my artistic journey at such events such as Pecha Kucha 20x20, the opening of BMAN “spring” exhibition Grand Hotel 2015, International Women’s Day 2016, and Woodford Academy 2015.

During 2016 and 2017 I developed skills in video production. Using Final Cut Pro to create videos for the information site Foundation For Change and a short film for the exhibition “If These Walls Could Speak” at Woodford Academy 2016.

In January and February 2018 my art work "Life of Encouragement" (Oil on board and mixed media) was on display in the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in the exhibition Blue Mountains Portraits.

During 2018 I studied a Art Therapy and gained a graduate certificate earning a place on the Dean's Merit list for achievement in the course

2020 has lead my work in a different direction where ballpoint pen studies of dogs has lead me to write and create a children's book - I Like Dogs. A perfect book for the family with small children who love dogs.
